Singer Davido bags fresh appointment in Osun
Nigerian musician, David Adeleke popularly known with the stage name Davido has been appointed as the chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.
David’s appointment was disclosed in a statement issued by the Osun State government on Wednesday, October 22.
According to the state, the singer’s appointment as chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund is geared toward raising funds to transform the sports industry in Osun.
The statement also assured the public that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is committed to the completion of the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium.
Also confirming Davido’s appointment, the deputy governor of Osun State, Kola Adewusi the singer was elated and did not hesitate to take the appointment.
In addition, Adewusi who doubles as the Osun State commissioner for sports said the township stadium once upgraded by the present administration would meet Olympic standards.
He said Governor Adeleke is focused on transforming the stadium into a world-class sports facility that will not only host national events but also attract global contests.
“Ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards — a project that will be completed in the shortest possible time.
“I am pleased to inform you that plans are in advanced stages towards the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as a central body for sports administration, development, and policy implementation.
“Introduction of a Sports Trust Fund to attract support from sports philanthropists within and outside the state, ensuring sustainable sports financing and development.
“Davido has been appointed to chair the Sports Trust Fund, and he did not hesitate in accepting the appointment. His intervention would attract funds that would impact Osun sports positively” Adewusi said.
