Court remands man in Osun for allegedly stealing underwear

A 23-year-old man, Opeyemi Adeleke, was on Tuesday remanded at the Ilesa Prisons by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a woman’s underwear.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Jafani Musilim, informed the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 21st at Ago-Wande area, Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

He lamented that it required the frantic effort of the police to retrieve the underwear before the accused person was brought to the court.

Musilim added that the offence contravened sections 249(d) and 3909(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused person, however pleaded not guilty to the offence levelled against him, as his defence counsel, Mrs Susan Ajegbe, prayed the court to grant her client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs M. A. Awodele, however, overruled the bail application and ordered for a formal bail application on the next date of adjournment, slated for February 12, 2019, for ruling on the bail.
