Relief As Hisbah Cancels Planned Wedding Of TikTok Star, Idris Mai Wushirya
The Kano State Hisbah Board has cancelled the planned wedding between popular TikTok comedian, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira ‘Yar Guda, citing controversies and unresolved issues surrounding the ceremony.
Confirming the development, the Deputy Commander of Special Operations at the Hisbah Board, Mujahedeen Aminuddeen Abubakar, said the decision followed an investigation which revealed that the couple intended to proceed with the marriage to avoid pending legal matters.
He explained that the board’s intervention was necessary to prevent future conflict and ensure peace between the parties.
“After our investigation, we discovered that the proposed marriage was not based on mutual understanding but rather an attempt to evade legal consequences. The board, therefore, resolved to cancel the wedding to avoid further misunderstanding”, Mujahedeen said.
He added that the case has been referred to the appropriate court for further action.
Reports indicate that Hisbah intervened following widespread social media discussions raising concerns about aspects of the wedding that allegedly contradicted Islamic marital principles.
The development has sparked mixed reactions online, with videos circulating of Idris Mai Wushirya acknowledging that he had earlier been cautioned and had agreed to go ahead with the marriage before it was eventually called off.
