Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu to honour Olusi at 90th birthday celebration
Lagos State Government is set to honour an elder statesman of the state, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, with a three-day programme of activities to mark his 90th birthday.
The programme, which will be hosted by the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will receive President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as Special Guests of Honour
The celebration, scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 8, 2026, will feature a leadership symposium, the launch of an educational fund and academy, a special prayer and thanksgiving service.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the planning committee, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, on Tuesday, the events will bring together family members, political associates, traditional and community leaders, public servants, business leaders and other guests.
Adefulire, who served as the state deputy governor between 2007 and 2015, said, “The celebrations will open on Thursday with the Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi Annual Leadership Symposium at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
“The symposium is expected to bring together scholars, policymakers, political leaders, professionals and other stakeholders to discuss leadership and nation-building. The Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi Educational Fund/Academy will also be unveiled at the event. The initiative is aimed at supporting education, developing talent and creating opportunities for young people.
“On Friday, October 9, the family, friends and associates of the celebrant will gather at the Lagos Central Mosque, Lagos Island, for a special Juma’at prayer and thanksgiving service. The programme will culminate in a grand reception on Tuesday, October 13, at The Monarch Event Center, Lekki-Epe, Lagos.”
The statement added that the celebration was intended to mark Olusi’s nine decades of leadership, public service and community development, as well as his contributions to Lagos’s social and political development.
