‘Nigerians Living In Lawless Country’ – PRP Tackles Tinubu Over Insecurity
The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of failing to protect Nigerians amid persistent killings and abductions across the country.
The party said the worsening security situation reflected what it described as the government’s incompetence and indifference to the plight of citizens.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its National Chairman, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the PRP urged Nigerians to speak out against the killings and demand urgent action to protect lives and property.
The party listed Kwara, Niger, Benue, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Borno, Plateau and Yobe among states affected by attacks, saying criminals continued to operate with impunity.
It accused the All Progressives Congress-led administration of responding to the crisis with press releases and assurances instead of providing adequate security for affected communities.
“The scale of the killings and abductions of helpless citizens and the rising impunity of their tormentors suggests that Nigerians live in a lawless country,” the statement said.
The PRP also expressed concern over the pressure on military personnel and local volunteers confronting armed groups, saying the insecurity was damaging livelihoods and the economy of millions of Nigerians.
It further accused the administration of directing excessive public resources towards securing political support while citizens continued to face security threats.
However, it did not provide details to substantiate the allegation.
The party said Nigerians could not afford to wait until the end of the current administration in May 2027 before demanding improved security.
“President Tinubu still has four months to go before his defeat. He has a responsibility to live up to his oath to protect the lives and welfare of Nigerians,” Baba-Ahmed said.
He urged the president to take responsibility for addressing the security crisis, adding that the government must act urgently to prevent further loss of lives. (Daily trust)
