After Losing Streak, University Advises Students To Dump Manchester United

KCA University has jokingly urged students to ditch Manchester United, warning that the club’s poor form could cost them sleep, happiness and peace of mind.

In a humorous memo shared alongside a promotional post for its January 2027 intake, the Kenyan university advised students to reconsider supporting the English Premier League club amid a disappointing run of results.

Dated Wednesday, October 21, the notice was labelled “Office of the University (Unofficial)” and urged students to reconsider supporting the club and wearing its jersey.

“Following concerns over students’ mental health, sleep patterns and general happiness, students are hereby advised to reconsider supporting Manchester United with immediate effect,” the memo stated.

The university cited “unnecessary emotional damage, weekend disappointments and Monday-morning heartbreaks”, joking that students already had enough pressure from continuous assessment tests (CATs), assignments, graduation clearance and academic deadlines.

“Adding Manchester United to the list is highly discouraged!” the notice read.

Instead, the university encouraged students to support its sporting teams, claiming they performed better than the struggling Premier League side.

“Your mental health, peace of mind and academic success matter. Choose joy. Choose KCAU. Choose what works!” the memo stated.

The accompanying social media message also took playful aim at Chelsea and Arsenal supporters.

The joke followed a difficult spell for Manchester United, who had gone four competitive matches without a win by October 22.

United drew 1-1 against Tottenham Hotspur on October 10 and Leeds United on October 18, either side of a 2-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid on October 13.

Their struggles continued on October 21 with a 4-1 defeat away to Italian side Como 1907.

The run left United with two defeats and two draws in four matches, providing fresh ammunition for frustrated supporters — and the university’s tongue-in-cheek warning.
