Nine suspects arrested in FBI’s latest operation against Yahoo Boys in Nigeria
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has said it arrested nine in Nigerian in its global crackdown on fraudsters.
The FBI boss, Kash Patel, stated this on Sunday, highlighting the FBI’s success in its Operation Blackout.
“Operation Blackout is taking the fight directly to the international cybercriminal networks stealing billions from Americans,” Mr Patel said.
He said the antigraft agency’s “Latest operation in Nigeria delivered: 9 arrests, 53 electronic devices seized and $11 million in potentially freezable funds identified across multiple countries.”
Mr Patel posted a graphic design detailing the operation against Internet fraudsters in Nigeria.
He stated, “These scam centers exploit innocent victims, steal life savings, and operate across international borders believing they are beyond the reach of law enforcement.
“Thanks to Nigerian law enforcement and our partners in London for their outstanding cooperation. To the criminals targeting Americans from overseas: JUSTICE WILL FIND YOU.”
Meanwhile, two Nigerian Yahoo Boys, Mudasiru Afeez Olawale and Adebola Festus Adekunle, featured prominently in the FBI’s global crackdown on fraudsters report published on Thursday.
Messrs Olawale and Adekunle arrested and extradited in August, featured in the flyer of FBI’s crackdown on criminals across the globe codenamed “Operation Blackout” posted by Mr Patel.
