Fubara’s Return: ‘I Dare You to Remove Any Northern Gov Where Killings Happen Daily’ – Salako Slams Tinubu Over Selective Power
The former spokesperson of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, Ife Salako, has criticised Bola Tinubu following the lifting of the six-month state of emergency in Rivers State.
Tinubu had on Wednesday announced the reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Nma Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly, who are to resume office from Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Tinubu claimed that the emergency rule, declared on March 18, 2025, was necessary to address what it described as a “total paralysis of governance” in Rivers State.
The crisis, which stemmed from a protracted conflict between Governor Fubara and 27 lawmakers loyal to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, had effectively crippled governance.
At the height of the impasse, the Supreme Court ruled that “there was no government in Rivers State.”
Reacting to the development, Salako slammed Tinubu of selective application of power.
He argued that if Tinubu was committed to upholding peace and order, he should have extended similar measures to states in the North experiencing frequent killings.
“I dare you to remove any Northern governor where incessant killings happen almost on a daily basis.
“In fact, I double dare you! Try it and let’s know you are truly the President of Nigeria. Ire o,” Salako said.
Also reacting to his post, An X user, Nelson Collin, cautioned that any president who attempted to impose emergency rule in northern states would face political consequences.
“To be honest, any president who dares that won’t sit in that office come next election.
“That was one of Jonathan’s crimes by declaring a state of emergency in Borno and instructing Ihejirika to be ruthless,” he wrote.
Another user, @atobajaye, remarked, “Baba know where he can try his power.”
