Abdulaziz Yari, director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, says northern Nigeria will deliver more votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections than the entire south-west.

Yari spoke on Thursday at the APC presidential campaign rally in Ekiti state, where he called on residents to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“We in northern Nigeria, Bola is more of us than you in Ekiti, than you in Ondo, than you in Oyo, than you in Osun, than you in Lagos,” he said.

“And a good reason. Bola Ahmed supported our children, supported our people to become number one citizens in this country up to three times.”

Yari said the north was prepared to support Tinubu in the next election, adding that the region would mobilise votes for the president across the country.

“We in the north, we are ready for Asiwaju 2027, and we are going to deliver him from A to Z,” he said.

The APC campaign director-general also asked Ekiti residents to increase their support for Tinubu, recalling that the state gave the president 80 percent of its votes in the 2022 election.

He said the party was targeting at least 800,000 votes from the state in 2027.

“Last time, Asiwaju, as a candidate in 2022, asked you to vote for the governor, and you voted for him. And he requested to vote for him himself,” Yari said.

“Ekiti gave 80 percent. Today, out of 1,080,000 votes, and PVC collected over 900,000, I want to ask a question. This is my request, and by extension, of course, of the president to you. We are looking for 800,000 votes, representing about 90 percent.”

Yari said the party expected the support of Ekiti political leaders and residents because of what he described as Tinubu’s achievements since assuming office.

He listed schools, universities, roads, education support for young people, and women empowerment among the administration’s interventions in the state.

The former Zamfara governor also challenged opposition parties to explain how their policies would differ from those of the Tinubu administration.

Defending the government’s economic record, Yari cited what he described as reductions in inflation and food prices.

He urged Nigerians to give Tinubu another opportunity, insisting that the administration’s performance should form the basis of the APC’s campaign.

“As we promised Nigerians, we are going to campaign with our numbers, with what we have done for Nigerians. Based on that, Nigerians, we requested them to give us a second chance,” he said.

Yari said the party was prepared to defend its record, adding that the opposition should present alternative proposals to Nigerians.

“If they have answers, we are waiting for their answers,” he added. (TheCable)
