Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto has stated that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in office in 2027.
Aliyu said the president’s achievements over the past two years have positioned him for re-election.
He spoke on Thursday at the Government House in Katsina during the north-west zone town hall meeting on the amendment of the All Progressives Congress (APC) constitution.
Represented by his deputy, Idris Gobir, the governor said Tinubu’s performance is being recognized locally and internationally.
“By 2027, God willing, President Bola Tinubu will be sworn in as the next president of Nigeria,” he said.
Aliyu criticized opposition parties for what he described as selective condemnation of government policies.
His words: “The opposition likes to stay silent when Tinubu’s administration records achievements but rushes to criticize whenever a policy doesn’t favour them.
“We should not mind the opposition, especially those sponsoring condemnations and criticisms on social media.”
He described opposition groups as “weakened and disorganised,” alleging that their efforts are largely limited to online propaganda.
The governor said Tinubu’s leadership continues to attract growing respect from the international community.
“I visited one of the embassies recently, and the ambassador told me, ‘Congratulations. We have seen where your country is heading, and we believe we see a bright future for Nigeria,’” he said.
Aliyu also commended the National Assembly for supporting the Tinubu administration, saying the partnership has helped the government achieve its development goals since 2023.
He said: “The APC is forging ahead and making Nigeria a better place for all. What President Tinubu and the APC have done for this country will be remembered for many years to come.”
Host governor, Dikko Radda of Katsina, said the APC constitution review had become necessary to reflect evolving political realities in the country.
