Anyanwu, Others Suspended As PDP Moves Against Wike’s Men
The crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new turn, on Saturday, as the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and some other officials reportedly loyal to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), were suspended.
The National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, announced the suspension after a marathon meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the National Headquarters of the party, on Saturday.
Ologunagba gave the names of others suspended as the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, the National Organizing Secretary Umar Bature and the Deputy National Legal Adviser.
The affected officials are known to be in the camp of Wike.
Daily Trust gathered that for some time now, those suspended have not been attending meetings of the party.
They were suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee.
On Friday, an Abuja high Court asked the party to stop its planned convention slated for Ibadan, Oyo State on November 15 and 16, 2025.
The PDP has, however, vowed to appeal the judgement, but added that it would not stop its preparation for the convention.
Disagreement within the party is one of the reasons a suit was filed to challenge the convention.(Daily trust)
