Some of the warring children of the late traditional ruler of Badagry, Oba Afolabi Ogungbe James have died mysteriously.
The children, numbering 27, especially the princes, are fighting over their late father’s property which he left behind without a will.
The source said: Four brothers were initially signatories to the family bank account, but gradually they all began to die, and now it is Mr. Semasa Kolade James that is the sole administrator of the estate.
“And among the 27 children of Oba James, Semasa was the eighth in age hierarchy, and the fourth of the sons (princes)”
The battle over wealth sharing, e-nigeriang.com was told, has reached the court and two of their siblings, Mr. Semasa Kolade James and Afolabi Kazeem are on a seven-count charge of conspiracy, cheating, stealing, forging of company resolution and fraudulent disposal of trust property to Eko Bank Plc and forgery.
In a separate litigation, Semasa (the sole administrator of the late father’s estate now) is facing another charge in court bordering on the theft of N500 million, proceeds of his late father’s property, which he sold without sharing with his siblings.
Testifying in court, one of the sons said: “Our dad died on Jan. 30, 2002, 27 children survived him and he left a whole lot of valuable property that I cannot fully mention in choice areas of Surulere, Ajose Adeogun, Victoria Island and Badagry.
“My father did not leave a will to the best of my knowledge. The first defendant (Semasa) is my half brother, he is the eighth child of 27 children and he is the fourth son, and he is the only administrator of the estate and the signatory to the account.”
From this statement, out of four children, Semasa is now the only one living and automatically the sole administrator of their father’s estate.
