CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, said the deputy speaker has been reunited with his family after receiving medical treatment.
The command commended the courage, resilience and bravery of the combined team of security personnel deployed for his search and rescue operations.
“The police also appreciated the good people of Kebbi State, who provided the Command with vital and accurate information utilized to ensure the safe return of the Deputy Speaker,” it said.
It reiterated its sustained onslaught against banditry, kidnapping across the state, urging residents to be vigilant and report suspicious movement to the police or other security agencies for prompt response.
The lawmaker was kidnapped on October 31, 2025, at abount 8:20pm in his hometown of Bagudo, the headquarters of Bagudo Local Government Area, shortly after observing Isha’i prayers.
His release coincides with the interfaith prayer held in Birnin Kebbi to seek divine intervention on the prevailing spate of insecurity in the state.
Both Muslims and Christians in the state on Saturday had gathered to pray for the return of enduring peace as Governor Nasir Idris warned politicians against politicising insecurity in the state.(Daily trust)
