Governors’ forum congratulates Soludo, says Anambra poll proof of democratic maturity
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has congratulated Charles Soludo, governor of Anambra, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
On Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo winner of the election after polling 422,664 votes.
Soludo’s close rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, was second with 99,445 votes, while Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes, and George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) had 10,576 votes in fourth place.
In a statement on Sunday, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, NGF chairman and governor of Kwara, said the margin of Soludo’s victory showed the people’s trust in his leadership and programmes.
AbdulRazaq said the outcome reflected the governor’s popularity and the impact of his policies across sectors.
“We are confident that this deserving victory will enable His Excellency to consolidate on his great achievements across different sectors,” he said.
“This is yet another proof that Nigerians have fully embraced democracy and the rule of law as their preferred system of governance.”
The NGF also congratulated the people of Anambra and other stakeholders for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election.
The forum commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process.(The Cable)
