PHOTOS: Fayose meets Obasanjo in Ogun
A former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, paid a visit to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, ahead of Fayose’s upcoming 65th birthday on November 15.
Photos shared on X by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesome Wike, Lere Olayinka, captured the two leaders in warm moments, signalling an end to years of public animosity.
One image shows Obasanjo, dressed in a while traditional outfit and green cap, engaged in a game of Ayo, a traditional Yoruba board game.
Fayose and Obasanjo’s relationship has long been marked by tension, with both leaders often on opposite sides in politics.
The meeting also comes amid a series of high-profile visits to Fayose in the lead-up to his birthday, including one from former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday.
Osinbajo said he decided to visit Fayose ahead of the celebration because he would not be available on the day of the event.
During the visit, both leaders exchanged warm pleasantries and reflected on national issues, with Osinbajo commending Fayose’s courage and consistency in public life.
Fayose, in turn, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a mark of respect and friendship across political lines
