Former Buhari Aide Regrets Supporting Tinubu, Says He’ll Be Defeated in 2027
Former presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie, has openly turned against President Bola Tinubu, saying the president has “no pathway to return in 2027” and insisting that his exit is “non-negotiable.”
Onochie, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, made the comments while addressing her supporters at a political meeting.
She distanced herself from the current administration and said she no longer stands by the decision she made during the 2023 election.
In a video circulating on Friday, she told her supporters: “Tinubu has no pathway to return in 2027. We are not saying maybe or maybe not. He’s gone. Tinubu is gone.”
She went further, admitting she now regrets voting for him.
“He was elected by the people including me standing here and shamefully too and regrettably too,” she said.
Onochie once headed the NDDC board and previously served as Buhari’s Social Media Aide.
She told her followers that her movement would not adopt the approach she accused Tinubu’s supporters of using.
“We will work gently. We are not going to be running around or doing whatever they are doing. We are not going to go with them,” she said.
She added that they would “stand our ground respectfully without insulting anyone.”
She also gave a strong projection about the next election.
“We will just march on in 2027 and I think 2027 he will be gone. It is non-negotiable. He is gone already.”
Her remarks come amid growing political debates ahead of the 2027 race.
In October, Ademola Olarewaju, a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, also predicted a major setback for the APC if former President Goodluck Jonathan joins the contest under the PDP.
He argued that Jonathan’s presence would leave the ruling party without solid ground nationwide, saying: “If Goodluck Jonathan comes into the primaries and contests in a competitive primary and he wins, we all will support him. Then APC loses.”
