An Asaba policeman, Inspector Haruna Japhet, who vowed to reduce two young men to ‘nothing’ for pleading with them to stop brutalising a commercial tricycle rider has pleaded for forgiveness.

According to the good Samaritan, Prince Gwamnishu Harrison, who was also brutalised for wading into the fracas, Japhet is “seriously begging I drop charges”.

In an updated Facebook post by Prince Harrison, he shared a recorded video where Japhet revealed that he has been summoned to the Police Headquarters in Asaba.

He was also heard begging the man to please drop the charges. Prince Harrison wrote,

“RE: UPDATE – ATTEMPT TO MURDER PRINCE HARRISON ” I WILL REDUCE YOU TO NOTHING”
Inspector Haruna is presently at the State Headquarters Asaba. Got a Phone call from him. He was the man who threatened to “Reduce me to nothing”

His seriously begging I drop charges.

We can’t continue to leave in fear, be subjected to inhumane treatment and abused daily.

Let the voice of the oppress decide

As for Harrison, I am ready to make sure the oppressed gets Justice.”

Yesterday a trending video that showed Japhet and a sergeant with Service No: 462207, assaulting a tricycle rider in Asaba sparked outrage on the internet.

Prince Harrison also alleged that the policemen threatened his life. The video had led to a serious backlash on the policemen whose identities were revealed.
