JUST IN: ISWAP terrorists kill military General days after ambush
A military General, M. Uba has been reportedly killed by members of the Islamic State-West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Uba was said to have been abducted by members of the terrorist group after his convoy was ambushed on Friday, November 14.
According to a counter-terrorism expert, Zagazola Makama, the military General served as the Brigade commander of Damboa.
Makama said, “Gen. Uba, Brigade Commander of Damboa has been confirmed killed by ISWAP terrorists.
“Before his unfortunate capture, the Brigade Commander made this video we shared stating that he was okay. Unfortunately, after several hours, lost orientation within the forest,” Makama wrote on X.
He further stated that troops of the Nigerian Military had made efforts to rescue to General but could not because he was recaptured by the terrorists after his escape.
He wrote, “The troops, both ground and air made several efforts to rescue the Commander who told them he was on his way to return to his base.
“He was unfortunately recaptured by the terrorists after a viral report of his abduction went viral,” Makama added.
Recall that reports on General Uba’s abduction had gone viral after the ambush of his convoy around Sabon Gari in Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State.
It was gathered that ISWAP fighters in an ambush opened fire on a convoy of soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Two soldiers and two personnel of the CJTF were said to have been killed on the spot.
