Lagos CP deploys 100 operatives to venues of Bobrisky’s birthday
Zubairu Muazu, the Lagos commissioner of police, has ordered a comprehensive water-tight security at two different locations in the state where Bobrisky, controversial internet personality and cross-dresser, would be celebrating his birthday, TheCable Lifestyle understands.
The self-acclaimed transgender, whose real name is Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju but often referred to as the ‘male Barbie doll’, clocks 28 on Saturday.
He is expected to mark his birthday at two locations — on August 31, at the Pearls Gardens in Lekki Phase 1 and on September 1, at the Paradise Boat Club, Victoria Island.
In a “police wireless message” sighted by TheCable Lifestyle, Muazu ordered the deployment of over 100 police officers to prevent a potential “breach of public peace” ahead of Bobrisky’s birthday.
“The popular celebrity and self-acclaimed male Barbie Okunlola Idris AKA Bobrisky is expected to celebrate his birthday as indicated below on Saturday 31/08/2019 at 1000HRS at the Pearls Gardens, Wole Olateju Crescent, off Admirality Way, Lekki Phase 1,” the message read.
“Thereafter, a get-together party is scheduled to take place at Club DNA, NO 76 Adetokumbo Ademola Street, opposite Eko Hotel and Suite, Victoria Island at 2200HRS prompt on Sunday 01/9/2019. A beach party is schedule to hold at Paradise Boat Club, plot 8, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island at 1000HRS prompt.”
In the statement issued to the police divisions in Elemoro, Epe, Victoria Island, and Alausa, Muazu directed that patrol vehicles and over 100 personnel be deployed to the venues to ensure that no immoral act takes place in the premises.
“Considering the pedigree of the celebrant, the event may likely cause breach of public peace and it is expected that no immoral display should be allowed,” it read.
“To augment security at each of the venues, ACPOL Area ‘A’ Lion Building/SUPOL Victoria Island is to mobilize 50 men from own Area Command/Division to provide security at Club DNA, No 76 Adetokumbo Ademola Street, opposite Eko Hotel and Suite, Victoria Island and Paradise Boat Club, plot 8, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island on 31/08/2019 and 01/09/2019 respectively.
“To be assisted by DPO Victoria Island, ACPOL Area ‘J’ Elemoro/SUPOL Maroko is to mobilize 50 men from own Area Command/Division to provide water-tight security at Club DNA, No 76 Adetokumbo Ademola Street, opposite Eko Hotel and Suite, Victoria Island and Paradise Boat Club, plot 8, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island on 31/08/2019 and 01/09/2019 respectively.”
He also warned that should there be a breakdown of law, the premises should be shut down immediately.
“Note, Area commanders/DPOs are to personally lead the men to the locations and ensure no immoral act should take place while the locations should be shut down if necessary all to ensure strict compliance please,” the statement added.
Bobrisky has always made the headlines for several controversial reasons, including claims about severing his genitals and having numerous boyfriends.
After starring in ‘Bobrisky in Love‘, the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) had in May 2019, initiated three panels to critique the movie over fears that it might have used Nollywood as a platform to preach homosexuality.
“When classifying movies, we check its message, whether it promotes things that we find repugnant in our nation; we check the level of violence portrayed in the movie as well as sexual content and other things,” a spokesperson of the board said. (The Cable Lifestyle)
