Nigeria won’t be intimidated by foreign powers, says First Lady Remi Tinubu
The First Lady, Remi Tinubu, says Nigeria will not disintegrate but remain a united and indivisible nation despite its challenges.
Represented by Stephen Adegbite, executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Tinubu spoke on Sunday at the thanksgiving service for the investiture of Sunday Onuoha as archbishop on special duties at the Methodist Unity Cathedral, Abuja.
She said the nation’s hope rests in God and urged citizens to continue praying for the country, the church, and divine guidance.
She said Nigeria may welcome support from other countries but “will never be intimidated or become a disgraceful nation”.
Her words: “Nigeria will not disintegrate. Nigeria will remain one indivisible entity. God will be with Nigeria. We shall celebrate the coming Christmas in peace and in joy, and it shall be well with Nigeria.”
On his part, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, said Nigeria requires foreign partnerships to address insecurity.
He said the government can work with international allies “without compromising the nation’s sovereignty”, adding that the president is open to collaborations that would benefit the country.
Kalu emphasised the importance of stakeholder engagement in solving national challenges, noting that the church plays a key role in promoting peace, unity, and development.
“The church must bring messages of hope, peace, and unity to inspire progress and nation-building,” he said.
