A senior figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has taken a sharp swipe at the Tinubu led Federal Government, accusing it of spending “99% of its time politicking” while insecurity continues to worsen across the country.

Galadima, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, made the comments during a Monday night interview on Arise Television, where he faulted the government’s handling of recent abductions and rising violence nationwide.

He said the administration had “abdicated its primary responsibilities of protecting and saving lives of people and properties,” insisting that the focus had shifted almost entirely to political battles rather than security reforms.

According to him, “The government has abdicated his primary responsibilities of protecting and saving lives of people and properties and has given 99% of it’s time to politicking.”

He added that those in power were more concerned with weakening opposition parties than addressing the fear and uncertainty that citizens now live with.

Galadima also criticised what he described as a reactive and outdated security approach, urging the government to rethink its strategy.

He argued that effective security now requires technological deployment, intelligence-driven operations, and proactive measures, not just physical force.

He warned that unless the government “puts on its thinking cap,” the insecurity crisis could deteriorate further. “They are only concerned about trying to destroy opposition parties. They must put on their thinking cap and do the needful to protect lives and properties,” he said.

The NNPP chieftain, known for his outspoken stance on national issues, stressed that the increasing attacks, kidnappings, and general lawlessness were clear indicators that Nigeria’s security architecture is struggling.

He maintained that the government must refocus its priorities and treat security as an urgent national emergency rather than an afterthought overshadowed by political manoeuvring.
