Police Kill Bandits, Recover Rustled Livestock In Kebbi
The police on Saturday foiled a bandits’ attack on Zodi community in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing an unspecified number of the assailants and recovering rustled cattle and sheep.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said personnel of the No. 36 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Birnin Kebbi, swiftly responded to a distress report from the area.
He said the operatives engaged the bandits in a gun battle during which many of them were killed, while others fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.
According to him, the fleeing bandits abandoned members of their gang who were killed during the encounter.
Abubakar added that subsequent search of the forest led to the recovery of two motorcycles, 96 cows and 45 sheep.
He said the recovered livestock had been handed over to the village head of Zodi for safe return to their rightful owners, while the two motorcycles were handed over to the Divisional Police Officer in Zuru for further investigation.(Daily trust)
