A Nigerian lawyer, Victor Nkemjika, has announced that a couple who were reported to be his friends died in the Lagos explosion yesterday.
According to friends of the couple, the deceased husband was an only son while the deceased lady was an only daughter of her parents. It was also revealed that the deceased lady was a first class accounting graduate.
He wrote:
The number of people who died in the Explosion this morning will look like statistics until you have a friend or family member in the number , I’m so pained tonight !!!
Nigeria would test your strength , RIP Chisom and RIP to your husband too
Henrietta Alokha, the Principal at Bethlehem Girls College, Abule Ado, was among those who lost their lives in the explosion which occurred on Sunday morning.
The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) put the death toll at 17 as of Sunday evening.
A mass celebration was ongoing in the school when the incident happened and Alokha was reportedly among those who assisted trapped students to escape from the scene but when it was time for her to leave, she could not make it out alive. .
A couple years ago, there was a less severe fire incident at the secondary school and the Rev. Sister was also there to evacuate students.
