The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Monday said that the family of the late ex- Pipeline Products Marketing Company (PPMC) Managing Director, Suleiman Achimugu was involved in the burial arrangement.

Confirming the death to The Nation on phone, its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Kennie Obateru, described the demise as unfortunate.

Asked to state the burial arrangements, he said that since the deceased was no longer in the service of the corporation at the time of the incident, the burial arrangement would be strictly a family affair.

Achimugu, said the NNPC spokesman, was the PPMC boss from 2003 to 2007.

Obateru said: “Yes, it is unfortunate.”

On the burial arrangement, he said: “it is the family is being involved. He was MD PPMC 2003-2007.”

Meanwhile, a former aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie said in her Twitter handle that Achimugu, who was 67, had underplaying ailments besides the coronavirus that claimed his life.

She said: “He was 67 years old Suleiman Achimugu, a former MD of PPMC who returned home from medical treatment in the UK.

“He had underlying medical conditions-multiple myeloma & diabetics & was undergoing chemotherapy. (The Nation)
