Sanwo-Olu swears in Obasa’s son as Agege LG chairman
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, has sworn in Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of Mudasiru Obasa, speaker of the state house of assembly, as the substantive chairman of Agege LGA.
The ceremony, held on Monday at Lagos House in Ikeja, also saw Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa inaugurated as permanent secretary in the office of transformation, creativity and innovation (OTCI).
Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa had been overseeing the council in an acting capacity following the resignation of Tunde Azeez, the former chairman, who stepped down on health grounds.
Addressing the new appointees, Sanwo-Olu said public office in Lagos is a call to service, anchored on merit, discipline and tangible results.
“Leadership in Lagos state is defined by service, discipline, and results,” the governor said.
“The offices you now occupy are not rewards; they are responsibilities. The people of Lagos expect diligence, integrity, and impact—and they deserve nothing less.”
In a statement by Gboyega Akosile, the governor’s special adviser on media and publicity, Sanwo-Olu urged the Agege LG chairman to prioritise inclusive governance, adding that reconciliation efforts within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area since the party’s primaries are underway.
Sanwo-Olu said excellence and dedication remain the key criteria for recognition and advancement in the state’s political and civil service spheres.
Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa pledged an administration focused on unity and reconciliation across Agege, assuring residents of inclusive leadership.
