Abacha’s death a loss to Nigeria- Al Mustapha
Former Military Head of State, Late General Sani Abacha, did so many good times to the nation for which only God can reward him, his Chief Security Officer, Major Hamza Al Mustapha, has stated.
He said the dark-googled former dictator was deliberately painted black by some disgruntled elements despite all his good works.
Al-Mustapha also faulted the decision of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to cede Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon.
He spoke in Kano during the 22nd commemoration of Abacha on Monday.
Al-Mustapha said what Abacha has done to Nigeria will forever not be forgotten in the annals of history and generations yet unborn.
According to him, the late Head of state came and found only N200m dollars in the foreign reserve but before his demise was able to revamp the economy and stabilise it to the extent that he saved over $9 bn in foreign reserved before his death.
He said during the Abacha regime, the dollar sold at only N85 or thereabout and there was no inflation despite all the problems and challenges confronting the government.
On Bakassi, he stated he was aware of a conspiracy by some unpatriotic Nigerians with foreign forces to deprive Nigeria of the oil- rich Peninsula.
According to him: ” I participated in the war for good two years in Bakassi. I am quite aware of the quantum of crude oil deposit laying there especially the amount of crude oil deposit in Bakassi which is by far more than what obtained in the present day Nigeria.”
The former Chief Security Officer who described the death of Abacha as a big loss to the nation, said the former Head of State was deliberately attacked and painted black by some disgruntled elements who always portray his bad side to the public while hiding the good side.
The failing economy was basically our inability to sort out wisdom from foolishness. Every individual who could reason very well should know that we lacks reflecting on history to guide us administratively .
