The Ogun state government has said that 104 new COVID-19 cases were discovered in one company in Sagamu.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, made this known on Wednesday in Abeokuta. She, however, noted that the patients are all asymptomatic.

Coker said that the state recorded 108 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total to 471. She added that the state has also recorded 13 COVID-19 deaths.

She said, “104 cases are from a single site and they are all asymptomatic. 108 new cases, 104 from Sagamu, three from Abeokuta South and one from Yewa South.”

Also reacting to the development, Remi Hassan, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Public Communications, said the latest figure was the highest figure it had recorded since the state’s index case.

Hassan added that the latest number of cases shows that the transmission of the virus is not a reflection of community spread.

He stated that the state government was no going back on its plan to reopen the religious centres despite the alarming 108 COVID-19 cases recorded in the state within 24 hours.

He said the state government subjected the staff of some companies along Sagamu-interchange to what he called a total COVID-19 test, when it learned that they were not observing protocols for the virus.
