The abducted chief of Ahinza community in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State, Abubakar Hussaini and two of his sons have regained their freedom after paying N4 million ransom to their abductors.

City & Crime had reported that gunmen on September 20, 2024, invaded the chief’s house and whisked him and two of his children away at gunpoint.

The gunmen had earlier demanded N6.5 million ransom before the victims would be released.

A relation of the village chief, simply identified as Usman, confirmed the release to our reporter through the phone on Tuesday.

He said the chief and his two sons were released on Sunday around 5:45 pm at Sardauna Forest, which, he said, borders Nasarawa and Kogi states.

He said, “Aside the N4 million ransom, the family also purchased some food items, cough syrups, tablets, wines and Indian hemp for the gunmen.”

He said the village chief and his two sons were still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Toto town.

The spokesman of the Nasarawa State Police Command, ASP Rahman Nansel, was yet to confirm the release of the chief and his two children at the time of filing this report.(Daily Trust)
