The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 25, 2023 election in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has said there is still one more mandate to claim after the victory of the party in the Adamawa State governorship election.

The Eagle Online recalls that the incumbent and candidate of the PDP, Ahmadu Fintiri, was declared winner on Tuesday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Fintiri winner one month after the initial election on March 18.

Reacting to the development, Abubakar said after the victory in Adamawa State, there was one more mandate to claim.

The former Vice President was apparently referring to the presidential election in which he came second behind the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He has already filed a case before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

Abubakar, in a tweet on his Twitter handle, said: “Congratulations, Gov Ahmadu Fintiri, on your deserved reelection as governor of Adamawa State.

“Thank you to the people of Adamawa and men and women of goodwill for staying the course in resisting coupists and enemies of democracy from having their way.

“The lesson from this exercise and others is the need for Nigerians to be vigilant and never give in to anti-democratic forces whose objective is to snatch, run with and undermine the mandate of the people as freely expressed in their votes.

“By the way, it is not yet uhuru as we still have one more major mandate to reclaim, and together as ONE, we shall accomplish the task for the good of our country and its people.”
