Ademola Lookman and Troost-Ekong nominated for CAF Player of the Year
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its much-anticipated shortlist for the 2024 Men’s Player of the Year award, featuring notable Nigerian players Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong.
Surprisingly, Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface and reigning titleholder Victor Osimhen didn’t make the list.
Among the nominees are Morocco’s defensive stalwarts Achraf Hakimi and Sofiane Rahimi, alongside Algeria’s Amine Gouiri.
Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra also makes the list following an impressive club season, while DR Congo’s Chancel Mbemba and Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy have earned recognition for their consistent performances throughout the year.
Additionally, Burkina Faso’s Edmond Tapsoba and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams round out the list.
This year’s selection represents established stars and emerging talents, all of whom have showcased exceptional performances over the past year.
The CAF Awards 2024 will ultimately determine who will succeed Osimhen as Africa’s top player, with the ceremony set to celebrate the finest football talent from the continent.
