Akpabio is a man of good character, Ben Bruce counters Atiku, Natasha
A former lawmaker of the Nigerian Senate, Ben Murray-Bruce has described the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio as a man of unimpeachable good character.
Murray-Bruce said he has known Akpabio for a long time and can boldly say that the South-South region and Nigeria as a whole are lucky to have Akpabio at the helm of affairs in the National Assembly.
In a post made on X, the former lawmaker said the Senate President has been investigated severally by various agencies and has been found clean.
He said, “I know Senator Godswill Akpabio personally and intimately. He is a man of unimpeachable good character, and both the South-South and Nigeria are fortunate to have him at the helm of affairs at the National Assembly at this delicate stage in our national growth.”
Murray-Bruce’s post follows a recent allegation by a former president, Atiku Abubakar who alleged that Akpabio is corrupt and has a penchant for abusing women.
However, Murray-Bruce in his post said Nigeria needs men of ability like Akpabio who would protect the integrity of the nation’s legislature.
He added, “I will not stand idly by while some persons try, both home and abroad, to destroy an institution I was once proudly a part of.
“I am a Nigerian, who is proud of Nigeria and will give my all to protect and project my country to the world.
“I give him my right hand of fellowship and stand firmly with him.
“Innuendo, hearsay, and dog whistles will always come. But they can never be so powerful that they will take preeminence over facts,” Murray-Bruce wrote.
