Governor Umo Eno of Akwa-Ibom State has announced the dissolution of his cabinet, emphasising the need to bring in new professionals.
Speaking during a valedictory session at the executive chambers on Friday, Eno clarified that the decision was not due to underperformance.
“For me, if you were to be changed based on non-performance, I think none of the Commissioners would go. All of you have delivered and that’s why the Arise Agenda has succeeded. But we must come to the end of a season, start another season and keep moving,” he said.
The governor disclosed that a valedictory dinner would be held on Friday evening at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, in honour of the outgoing executive council members.
Most of the commissioners had been in office for nearly a decade, with some serving under former Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Sources revealed that the commissioners and advisers were retained to allow Governor Eno to “compensate” them for their services, as they were not “rewarded” before the last administration ended on May 29, 2023.
