Allegations against me baseless, says Nedu
Media personality, Chinedu Ani, popularly known as Nedu, has addressed some of the allegations made by controversial social media personality, Very Dark Man against him, including the accusation that he was intimate with content creator, Jojo of Lele, in exchange for career opportunities.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Nedu dismissed the claims, stating that they were baseless and lacked evidence.
“Do you know how long I have been doing this? Do you know how many years I have been in this industry? I have had attacks. I have had people call me weird names. It’s not everything people say that one will reply to. One thing I have learnt as a broadcast journalist is that what one fans is what continues. All these things are just hearsay, he said, she said. Where is the proof?” he said.
Nedu also stated that his life has always been about adding value to others, claiming that he has used his platform to help people in need. He said, “I am the perfect example of following peace with all men. That is who I am. Even when you are still hitting me, I will hail you. My life is one of adding value to people. If whatever I do is not going to add value, I don’t do it. It translates to a podcast where we teach people things. It also translates on radio. What I do on radio is more than what I do online. I have helped married women speak up; I have helped rape victims speak up. That has been my fight. Believe what you want to believe, but those that know me, know me well. My management’s fight with me every time is that I am too nice,” he said.
When asked if he regretted inviting comedian Deeone—a fierce critic of social media personality, Very Dark Man—to Honest Bunch Podcast, Nedu stood by his decision.
“No, I don’t. Everybody is entitled to an opinion on the platform. It’s for anybody and for everybody. Do you realise that people’s lives have changed from that same platform? People talk about the episodes that they love. He aired his opinion,” Nedu stated.
Looking ahead, the on-air personality declared that he was done being overly accessible and vowed to change his approach.
“Let me tell you something; that nice part of Nedu is dead and buried. No more Mr. Nice Guy. I am not going to be nice to anybody again. I am unreachable now. I was too accessible, and I was used by lots of people. If you think you have my number, think again. If you have my number, delete it because I am done being nice,” he said.
