The Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikirulahi Akinropo has written a petition to Assistant General of Police, Zone XI Headquarters, Osogbo, Osun State demanding immediate prosecution of Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi.
The letter from Oba Dhikirulahi through his counsel, Soji Oyetayo which was made available to The Nation Correspondent in Osogbo on Wednesday was titled “Letter of demand for the immediate prosecution of Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo” accused Oluwo of wanting to kill his client.
He noted that Oba Akanbi act of beating Oba Dhikirulahi during the peacekeeping meeting held in AIG’s office in the presence of two Osun State Commissioners and some officers amounted to criminal conduct and punishable by law.
The letter dated 18th of February, 2020, with ref: SOC/094/2020 reads, “We have been consulted and our professional services retained by Oba Dhikirulahi Akinropo the Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area, Osun State of Nigeria and we have the firm instruction of our client to present this humble petition to you as follows:
“Our client is the Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Ola-Oluwa Local Government Area, Osun State of Nigeria and a part 2 chieftaincy under the Chiefs Law of Osun State of Nigeria.
It would be recalled on the 14” day of February 2020; our client was among the traditional rulers from Iwo Traditional Council invited by your humble self for a peace meeting in your office.
“The said ugly incident happened in your presence, two Honourable Osun State Commissioner, some of your officers who were at the said meeting and other traditional rulers invited for the said peace meeting.
In fact, it was your humble self who disengaged the said Oluwo of Iwo, Oba ABDULAHEED ADEWALE AKANBI from killing our client on that day.”
Our client was thoroughly assaulted by the said Oluwo of Iwo, Oba ABDULRASHEED ADEWALE AKANBI which caused our client grievous bodily harm.
Our client was later admitted at Osun State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo where he was treated and later discharged.
“It needs to be clearly stated that under our law, nobody, no matter highly placed, is above the law. The act of the said Oluwo of Iwo, Oba ABDULRASHEED ADEWALE AKANBI at the said meeting by beating a fellow traditional ruler clearly amounted to criminal conduct which is punishable by law.
“Oluwo of Iwo, Oba ABDULRASHEED ADEWALE AKANBI has been boasting all about that the police cannot do anything to him and twisting the event that occurred in your presence so as to suit his own purpose.
We don’t want him to change the event as it occurred in your presence so as not to bring the police into disrepute.
We pray you, Sir, that the full wrath of law should be brought against him for the offence which he had committed”.
He, therefore, urged AIG to expedite action on the investigation of the case and charge Oluwo to court for criminal prosecution.
It could be recalled that Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi while addressing newsmen at Nigerian Union of Journalists, Correspondents’ chapel, Odi-Olowo, Osogbo on Tuesday denied that he punched Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikirulahi Akinropo. (The Nation)
