Alleged terrorists’ invasion: Osun govt arrests 100 foreigners


The government of Osun State has arrested over 100 foreigners after some suspected members of ISWAP were nabbed during their bomb-making training.

It was gathered that the foreigners suspected to be linked with the terrorist suspects were arrested by some officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service while trying to enter the state.

Sources within the service said the arrested foreigners did not have any form of identification on them when they were apprehended.

They were also unable to explain in details, their mission in the state.

A source who spoke on the recent arrest said the foreigners were arrested in a location he could not disclose.

He said, “I will not disclose the location of arrest for security reasons and not to raise apprehension in the community. They were arrested and the Osun State Government was informed. 

“The state government was involved as they provided Immigration buses to convey them, he said.

Confirming the incident, the commissioner for information and public enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi said security issue in the state is a top priority.

He also said that the state government would leave no stone unturned to ensure that the planned activities of ISWAP is nipped in the bud and subsequently stalled.

Alimi said, “100 foreigners were arrested weeks ago before the arrest of suspected members ISWAP in Ilesa. We are on top of security situation, our residents should not panic.”
