Amid the tussle over the emirship in Kano, security operatives have read a riot act against an orchestrated plot to set the state House of Assembly ablaze.

Besides, the operatives revealed that intelligence information has indicated a ground plot by sponsored groups to set the assembly, and residence of top members of the state legislature on fire.

Kano Commissioner of Police CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel who led a joint security press briefing Sunday evening told journalists that operatives including the military are prepared to uproot the plotters.

Gumel disclosed that joint security operatives will henceforth commence a house-to-house search to fish out those pulling the criminal act and their sponsors.

“Against the controversy surrounding the chieftaincy issue in Kano, we have uncovered through credible intelligence plans by some miscreants paid to unleash terror in Kano,” Gumel said.

“At the hill of their plans are target to attack the state House of assembly and residences of key members of the assembly. The intelligence has been verified by the security. Let me use this opportunity to say the security has the capacity to tame the evil forces.

“We are embarking on security patrol beginning this night and House to House search to uncover those behind the plot. Let me use this opportunity to say Kano is peaceful, calm and safe. We make bold to say nobody can override the decision taken by the security council of the state.”

On the emirship controversy, the CP insisted that an action has been perfected by the state government, adding that anyone in doubt should approach the court.

He appealed to Kano residents to embark on their lawful businesses without fear of intimidation and molestation, and stated that security forces will not tolerate any act that will jeopardize the peace and harmony of the state.
