The Presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria,  Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, has declared that the party is the only party that believes in the restructuring of the country.

She alleged that both the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party had failed the country because they lacked the capacity to take the country to new heights.

Ezekwesili stated this in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Tuesday during her  meeting with members of the party across the 18 local government areas of the state,  ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

The former Minister of Education said the ACPN was the only party that could give direction to country.

She said, “We no longer want failure, we no longer want mediocre, this is not a movement of politicians, this is a movement of the citizens.

“I am not running so that I will answer a title, I will mobilise the Nigerian people for us to do things differently, for us to form a government in the way that matters to the people, not for the politicians and looters but for the people,  everyone in Nigeria that is tired of the situation, will run with me, I am not running alone.

“We want a different Nigerian, a system that will make the child of the poor to have access to quality education. We will ensure that the private sector is part of the economic development of the country. Today, three to four million of our young people would come out of schools and would not find a job, that is horrible.”

On the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the amended electoral bill, Ezekwesili said this showed that he was not interested in a democratic Nigeria.

She said, “The Nigerian people must be on the alert, I don’t trust the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, he has not shown himself worthy, for the fact that he refused to sign the electoral amendment bill 2018.

“If the President means well for this country, he should have taken that bill and signed it into law, because signing the bill into law, means we can believe in the integrity of our electoral umpire, today, he has basically weakened the capacity of INEC to do what they must do according to the law.” (Punch)
