Memphis Depay has failed to shine in his first season at Barcelona. The departure of Ronald Koeman and injuries have led to a drop in his involvement with the team. Given this situation, Arsenal have shown interest in the Dutchman following the departure of Alexandre Lacazatte, but he wants to stay at Camp Nou.

Arsenal have found themselves at a crossroads in attack after the end of the season. Aubameyang left for Barcelona in the winter transfer window and now the club have made official the departure of Alexandre Lacazette, who has not renewed his contract and will leave London as a free agent.

The French player looks set to return to Ligue 1 to play for Olympique Lyon, but the deal has yet to be finalised. A situation that has led to Mikel Arteta having to urgently go to the market in search of a centre-forward for next season.

‘The Sun’ reported that Memphis Depay, who has already made it clear that he wants to stay at the Camp Nou, is the name that is being strongly considered. However, the English squad knows that the striker has a contract until 2023 and that he is not very much to Xavi Hernandez’s liking.

The coach has opted for other strikers, although in the last part of the season he has put him in more and more. The former Lyon man is already familiar with the Premier League after a spell at Manchester United, where he also failed to succeed under Jose Mourinho.
