Artisans, technicians endorse Sanwo-Olu for second term
Association of Lagos Artisans and Technicians (ASLAT) on Tuesday endorsed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as its candidate for Saturday’s poll.
Executive Secretary of the Association, Adesina Akinyemi, made this known at a news conference in Ojodu Berger.
Akinyemi reeled out the achievements of Governor Sanwo-Olu during his first term in office, which included free education for primary and secondary school pupils in the state.
He said: “Our children have been enjoying free educational system in the state; more than 1,500 new teachers were recently employed by Governor Sanwo-Olu while another 15,000 were retained to reposition public education in Lagos State.
“Our wives and pregnant women are enjoying free healthcare in the state and empowerment had also come in different forms and categories for thousands of women and young girls through the ministry of women affairs and poverty alleviation.”
Akinyemi also noted that the association’s strategy of thirty-thirty which is to ensure thirty votes in each of the over 13,000 polling units in the state, would deliver over 390,000 votes for the governor.
Akinyemi reeled out other achievements of the governor, which the association has benefited immensely from to include start up capital, micro pension and empowerment programs for over 35,000 artisans.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Wealth Creation, Mr Abdulhakeem Mustapha, who also spoke at the event, promised that more benefits await artisans if the governor is reelected.
President of the Association, Lawrence Ajayi, also urged artisans and technicians in the 20 council areas and 37 Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to come out en-masse on Saturday to deliver their polling unit for Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Meanwhile, the convener, Safer Lagos Initiative, Mr. Lanre Mojola, said the initiative has empowered artisans and technicians with over 100 hardhats, ear muffs, safety eye goggles to protect them against work hazards.
