Awujale: Kuku heads 11-member administrative body

Ogun State Government yesterday set up 11-member administrative body to oversee various administrative and traditional responsibilities during the period of transition pending the time a new Awujale of Ijebuland is installed.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamsat disclosed this in a statement made available to newmen in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Hamsat mentioned the names of the 11 members are: Chief Folorunso Sunny Kuku – Chairman (Ilamuren); Chief Oluwaranti Lekan Osifeso – Secretary (Madassa); Chief Stephen Bakare Oluwalogbon – Member (Ilamuren); Chief Bisola Oluneye Okuboyejo – Member (Ilamuren); Chief Funmilola Okunowo – Member (Ilamuren).

Others include : Professor Jide Ajayi – Member (Ilamuren); Chief Tunde Odulaja -Member (Pampa); Chief Abimbola Okenla -Member (Pampa); Chief Agboola Alawusa -Member(Pampa); Chief(Mrs) Adebisi Oshibogun – Member (Pampa) Chief Adebisi Adaran (Gbeden) – Member (Ogbeni Odi).

He said that the Dapo Abiodun led administration established the 11 member administrative body to ensure stability, continuity, and respect for the cherish traditions of ijebu-Ode during the transition period.

The commissioner therefore called on the sons and daughters of Ijebuland within and outside the country as well as stakeholders to come together and support the body to ensure peace, unity and harmony in the transition of a new Awujale.

He charged the people of Ijebu-Ode and its environs to remain peaceful and law-abiding citizens as well as being supportive in the process as the government was committed to transparency in the preserving the culture of the land.

The statement reads “In line with the historical and traditional governance structure of ijebu-Ode, the Ogun State government here by formally announce the constitution of an administrative body to superintend various administrative and traditional responsibilities during the period of transition, until the new Awujale of Ijebuland is installed.”

“The Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Con, reiterates the commitment of the government to ensure stability, continuity, and respect for the cherish traditions of ijebu-Ode during the transition period.”

“The state government therefore called on all sons and daughters of Ijebuland both at home and in diaspora, to extend unflinching support to the constituted administrative body, as this is the collective responsibility and the corporation of all stakeholders is crucial is safeguarding the peace, harmony and unity that Ijebuland is known for.”

“The people are further urged to remain law-abiding, peaceful and support the ongoing process as government remains resolute in its commitment, transparency, inclusiveness and the preservation of our cultural heritage.”
