America based son, Adesola Omidina has stopped Baba Suwe burial after the veteran actor died in Lagos on Monday, ENigeria Newspaper reports.

ENigeria Newspaper exclusively reports that Adesola Omidina, son of late legendary actor Babatunde Omidina widely known as Baba Suwe, has set a new burial date for his father.

ENigeria Newspaper reports that Baba Suwe died on Monday, November 22, 2021, while undergoing local treatment at his Ikorodu Lagos home. However, instead of his burial taking place immediately, as is customary for Muslims, his son Adesola Omidina announced a counter date of Thursday, November 25, 2021 for the actor’s burial at his home in Ikorodu.

In a Statement released by the late actor’s son and seen by this newspaper, it read, “Burial arrangements for late Alhaji Babatunde Nurudeen Omidina (a.k.a Baba Suwe). Interment will commence at his residence, 26, Oluwatimiro Street, Ewu Elepe Bustop, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at 10 am prompt.

“The final funeral ceremony will be announced later. Baba Suwe is survived by children, grandchildren, aged mother and family,”

Meanwhile, inside sources told ENigeria Newspaper that Adesola Omidina, who lives in the United States, insisted that his father’s funeral be postponed to Thursday so that he could attend.

As of the time of reporting this news, ENigeria Newspaper understands that Muslim clerics who were meant to perform the burial ceremony have subsequently pulled out, stating that they will not be a part of an arrangement that contradicts Muslim custom.

After his father died yesterday, Adesola Omidina apologized to members of the Theatre Arts And Motion Pictures Practitioners Association Of Nigeria (TAMPAN), performers, and Nigerians for his younger brother’s statements which went viral on social media. (E-Nigeria)
