In a newly publicised royal book, Catherine, the Princess of Wales by royal author Rob Jobson, Prince William reportedly banned Meghan Markle from wearing any of Princess Diana’s jewelry during her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

What the book revealed

The book details how Prince William, who himself proposed to Kate Middleton using his mother’s iconic engagement ring, was anxious about Prince Harry’s decision to marry Meghan Markle from the very beginning of their relationship.

William, the book states, “begged his 39-year-old younger brother to ‘cool the relationship’. That is, so the actress would have time to get used to life as a royal before committing entirely.”

Furthermore, the book claims that William “sought assurances from the Queen that his brother’s bride-to-be would not wear any jewelry in the collection once worn by Diana, Princess of Wales,” even though his wife Catherine had been allowed to do so, which the author attributed to her “rank.”

Prince William and Prince Harry deteriorating relationship

The revelations shed light on the deteriorating relationship between the once-inseparable brothers, even before Meghan officially joined the royal family.

The book states that William and Kate Middleton “expressed concern about the speed at which Harry and Ms Markle were progressing, which only made their already tumultuous relationship worse when Harry brought the former actress to meet them.”

According to the book, “Harry felt affronted and judged it to be an insult. As a direct result, his relationship with his brother deteriorated fast.” The book also claims that Meghan’s relationship with William and Kate did not start well, as she “ignored the royal hierarchy” and even asked to borrow the Princess of Wales’ lip gloss, which left Kate “taken aback” and “grimacing.”

These latest claims come weeks after the release of Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir “Spare.” The book detailed the extent of the rift between the brothers. Also, it included an alleged physical altercation between them in 2019. (Guardian)
