The speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly, Frank Okiye, has tested positive to COVID-19. Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu,  disclosed this Wednesday while briefing journalists, THE WITNESS reports.

He said the state is taking measures to tackle further spread of the virus in the state.

Meanwhile, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday went into self- isolation.

The self-isolation was sequel to the governor’s close contact with the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, who have both tested positive for coronavirus.

A statement, by special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said the governor has sent his samples for testing.  (The Witness)
