The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the Edo State governorship election, Olumide Akpata, has lost his polling unit to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that results started coming in from the polling units in the Edo State governorship election as the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are locked in a tight contest.
SaharaReporters at the polling units in Oredo Ward saw that the APC and the PDP are closely following each other while the Labour Party appears to be taking a distant third.
Meanwhile at Akpata’s polling unit, here is the result declared;

SaharaReporters earlier reported that a socio-political organisation, YIAGA, condemned vote-buying in parts of Edo State in the ongoing governorship election.
According to the organisation, party agents were seen bribing voters with N10,000 each in some areas its election monitors covered.
“#WatchingTheVote reported incidents of vote buying in Ikpoba/Okha, Igueben, Esan West, Akoko Edo, Owan West, and Uhunmodi LGAs.”a post on X reads.
“APC and PDP party agents were seen bribing voters with cash (N10,000) at the Igueben – Idumoka Pri School polling unit (12-10-03-004) Ward 1 in Igueben LGA.”
It was also stated that party agents were seen handing out cash gifts.(SaharaReporters)
