Manchester City thrashed West Ham 3-1 on Sunday to set a new Premier League record, winning their fourth league title in a row.

Before now, no team have won four consecutive league titles in the history of Premier League.

Pep Guardiola has eclipsed Alex Fergusson’s record of winning the Premier League three times in a row.

City, knowing full well that a victory will hand the title over to them at the Etihad Stadium mounted the pressure on West Ham from the blast of the whistle.

Phil Foden put City in front two minutes into the game. He controlled the ball with an excellent first touch on the edge of the penalty box after receiving a splendid pass and smashed the ball into the top right corner.

City doubled their lead in the 18th minute of the match. Jeremy Doku teed up Foden inside the box and he curled the ball into the right side of the net and past Alphonse Areola.

Mohammed Kudus pulled one goal back for West Ham. He got on the scoresheet after finding some space in the box to acrobatically score from the corner kick to make it 2-1.

The homers made it 3-1 in the 59th minute of the game. Rodri showed perfect technique and produced a first-time effort from just outside the box that went into the bottom right corner.

Tomas Soucek put the ball in the net for West Ham but the goal was cancelled for handball. He had latched onto a brilliant cross and produced a perfect header that went inside the left post to give the goalkeeper no chance.
