President Muhammadu Buhari will on Wednesday exit his ongoing Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) imposed five-day self-isolation.

Buhari returned last Friday after an 18-day trip to the United Kingdom (UK) where he attended an Education Summit and subsequently went for his medical check-up.

He had to self-isolate as a precautionary measure required of all international travellers arriving in Nigeria in case they had been exposed to COVID-19.

Despite the self-isolation, the President has continued to attend to official documents including the signing of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) on Monday.

The presidency on Monday confirmed he is taking measures to protect himself while attending to such official documents.

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, revealed that all documents brought to his attention are sanitised before they reach him.

He said: “The President is truly isolating as required following international travel.

“During this period, which ends on Wednesday, he will be attending to urgent and critical documents.

“It is important to note that all documents coming to Mr President are screened and sanitized with specialised equipment before and after they reach him.

“The PIB bill just signed passed through the same process.”
