Buhari re-nominates Yakubu as INEC chairman
President Muhmmadu Buhari has re-nominated the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, for a second term in office.
The President had sent Yakubu’s name to the Senate via a letter to Senate President Ahmad Lawan for a second term in office.
Yakubu was first appointed five years ago for the job.
In a statement on Tuesday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, President Buhari cited constitutional provisions which permit the re-nomination of the INEC boss.
