Buhari, Tinubu, others condole with Ben Murray-Bruce
Condolences have poured in for Senator Ben Murray-Bruce over the death of his American wife of 41 years, Evelyn. She died of cancer.
President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were among the prominent sympathisers, who sent messages to the senator, who served in the National Assembly between 2015-2019.
Buhari urged the Murray-Bruce family to take solace in the quality of life lived by the departed.
He also beseeched God to soothe the family’s pains.
The president’s condolence message was conveyed through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Friday.
Tinubu expressed his deepest sympathy to Murray-Bruce over the death of Evelyn.
“Please accept my deepest sympathy and condolences over the passage of your beloved wife, Evelyn.
“Like you said in your tweet, cancer should not be a death sentence,” he said.
Tinubu urged citizens to scale up awareness on the need for constant checks for early detection, immediate and continuous treatment of cancer.
He said: “Please know that our thoughts are with you at this moment.
“I pray that God grants your wife eternal rest and give you, the children and all the people she left behind the strength to carry on after her.”
Sen. Murray-Bruce announced on Friday on his twitter handle that he lost his wife of 41 years to cancer. The three-part post has generated over 11,500 responses, all condoling with the family over the loss of the matriarch.
