Buhari writes Gen. Aliyu Gusau
President Muhammadu Buhari has written a congratulatory letter to former Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Aliyu Gusau, as he turns 80 today, May 18, 2023.
In the congratulatory message issued by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, on Wednesday in Abuja, Buhari rejoiced with the retired military officer, who held several high-level national security, military and intelligence offices with distinction.
The president joined family, friends and associates of the former National Security Adviser (NSA) to three presidents in celebrating the milestone.
Buhari lauded Gusau for playing major roles in shaping the political and economic history of Nigeria, especially on security and diplomatic issues.
According to him, Gusau’s commitment to self-development, through research, networking and travelling, keeps him fresh and relevant on all issues of national and global development.
This, he said, had been strengthened by his disciplined military background, which saw him reaching the peak of his career as Chief of Army Staff in 1993.
Buhari affirmed that Gusau’s versatile knowledge of military strategy and intelligence, public policy and good governance would always keep him relevant.
The president prayed for the well-being of Gusau and his family.
