Buhari’s inauguration: How Lai Mohammed answered question on whether Atiku will be invited
The Federal Government of Nigeria has given the assurance that there would be watertight security during the forthcoming presidential inauguration.
The Federal Government also disclosed that invitation would be sent to members of the opposition ready to attend the event.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed gave this assurance during a world press conference in Abuja on Monday.
When asked whether the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar and other leaders of the opposition would be invited for the event, the minister said, “I want to assure you that all those who want to be invited will be invited.”
He also spoke on the current security situation in the country and the recent alarm raised by the military that some elements were plotting to truncate the swearing in of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office on May 29.
Mohammed, who revealed that world leaders will be invited for the event, was asked about the protection of the visitors and he said, “We have no reason to doubt the alarm that have been raised the security agencies. But as I said, there’s absolutely no cause for alarm.
“On the question about the safety of world leader, I assure you, Nigeria is safe. Their security and that of every Nigerian is guaranteed.
“Even if we are taking [security measures], will I tell you here?”
